With the 2016 presidential race in full swing, the Latino vote could be the make or break decision that determines who are next President will be. The growth in the Latino electorate has steadily shifted and increased over the years from immigrants to the young with US born Latinos turning 18 and becoming eligible to vote. About 500 – 600,000 Latino voters are added to the voting rolls each year.
There are several influential Latinas on both Republican and Democratic sides of the house to help ensure that the Latino vote continues to play a major role in the election.
Latina.com got to speak with some of these politcos to learn more about their work, get their thoughts on the underrepresentation of women of color in politics and take their tips for other muchachas with governmental dreams.
